Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya

Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya was founded in 1969, the year of Birth Centenary of Mahatma Gandhi and hence so named, by a band of dedicated men under the leadership of the late Founder-Secretary 'VIDYA SEVA RATNAM' K.SANTHANAM. There is also a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the campus, to inspire the young Children.

The Institution is registered under the Society's Registration Act. The administration is carried on by an Executive Committee consisting of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Correspondent, Treasurer and four other members, all distinguished and eminent personalities of the town.

It is a Co-Educational Institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education with a Student Strength of 2342 and staff strength of 91. Classes are conducted from the Primary Level to X Standard.

The Library and Laboratories are fully equipped upto the Higher Secondary Level. There is an Excellent Computer centre with Pentium Server serving 30 Terminals, each provided with Hard Disk and Floppy Disk, Multimedia facility is also provided to make the Class room teaching more informative.

The Specialties of the Institution are:

1. Participatory Learning by the Children by the question and Answer method.

2. Stress on Spoken English.

3. Special coaching free of cost in Mathematics and Science Subjects for Students of the X Standard.

4. Provision for Computer study for all children through qualified for all children through qualified instructors and the opportunity given to every child to handle the computer personally.

5. Character building and inculcation of virtues like Patriotism, Discipline, Religious Tolerance and National Integration.

6. Introduction of SMART CLASSES for the benefit of students.

7. Provision for Vans / Buses to transport children from their homes to school and back at a nominal cost.
