|Origin and Growth :
Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya was founded on 3rd
August 1969, by a band of dedicated men, under the
leadership of our Dynamic Founder Secretary Vidya
Seva Ratnam Auditor K.SANTHANAM, and his team.
the Institution was founded in the Birth Centenary
Year of Mahatma Gandhi, it was appropriately named
Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya. A statue
of Mahatma Gandhi has also been installed in the campus,
to inspire the young children.
Vidyalaya is affiliated to the Central Board of
Secondary Education. Classes are conducted from the
pre-primary level up to the X standard. It is a coeducational
Institution with a student intake of 2554 and faculty
strength of 95. The teacher pupil ratio works out to
the initial period, the Vidyalaya was functioning
in rented premises in the Dhakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar
Sabha campus. Not being blessed with any kind of external
Aid, the school had to be maintained by regular
contributions from the members themselves.
the present site at 35, Tennur High Road was acquired
in 1978 by Vidya Seva Ratnam Auditor by Sri.K.Santhanam
in the teeth of severe opposition from his own well-meaning
fellow members. This proved to be a turning point
in the history of the Institution.
to the Grace of God and the Blessings of the Paramacharya,
the acquisition of the site has been followed by an
era of steady expansion leading to further extension
to a nearby one-Acre Venue procured by the present Secretary
Sri. S. Ravindran in 2012-2013
